Rabidoux Makes Stop in Savannah

Posted: March 9, 2010

Savannah, TN – Democratic candidate for District 7, Dr. Greg Rabidoux kicked off his “15 Counties in 15 Days” with a spirited listening stop at the City Hall in Savannah on February 27.

Mayor Larry Lowery of Saltillo introduced him to the crowd of about 25 who came to meet the candidate and share their concerns. The Mayor said that Greg represented the positive change needed in District 7 and that by electing him to Congress they would make sure we had someone representing us who is of and for the people, not beholden to special interests and DC lobbyists.

Rabidoux gave a brief glimpse into his background as a professor of American government and Constitutional law at Austin Peay University in Clarksville where he lives with his wife and son. He is also experienced as an attorney and mediator, and has served on the staffs of two members of Congress, both Democratic and Republican. He is the author of a recently released book Hollywood Politicos: Then and Now. Greg fielded a variety of questions about bringing good jobs to the district, raising our educational standards to prepare for those jobs, and the proposal by incumbent Marsha Blackburn to eliminate Social Security and Medicare through privatization.

The current healthcare reform bills dominated the discussion.  Before starting the session, Rabidoux asked the audience for a moment of silence to honor recently fallen Tennessee soldiers Captain Marcus Ray Alford and Chief Warrant Officer Billie Jean Grinder.

Greg Rabidoux will finish up the listening tour this week with the final stops in Hickman, Cheatham, Davidson, Williamson, and Montgomery Counties.

McLemore Announces Retirement Following 36 Years of Service

Posted: July 21, 2009

Marcus McLemore, County Director for the Hardin County office of the University of Tennessee Extension, is retiring after 36 years of service. McLemore began his career in 1973 as a 4-H Assistant Extension Agent. He worked with the youth of Hardin County for 11 years. In 1984 he was promoted to County Director where he has remained the director for 25 years.
McLemore has remained dedicated to the county and has enjoyed his career. “When I moved to Hardin County, I had all intentions of only working about 3 years and leaving. It’s been 36 years now and I wouldn’t have changed a thing. Some of the best years of my Extension experience were when I was a 4-H Agent. It was rewarding to see children excel in the program and grow as individuals. Later as an Agricultural Agent it was just as rewarding to work with the farmers and their families. It has been a great experience to see their successes.”

McLemore will continue to work on a part-time basis as part of the UT Extension retirement incentive program. You can continue to call him for any agricultural issues or questions.

There will be a Retirement Reception for Marcus at the UT Extension office in the Hardin County Courthouse on Wednesday, July 29 from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

Charlotte Burns, CEO of Hardin Medical Center (HMC), recognizes Miles Robertson as the facility’s 2009 Employee of the Year at an event recognizing National Hospital and National Nursing Home Weeks.
“Miles was selected from among this year's 12 Employees of the Month.  The selection is made by employee ballot, and each of the monthly winners would have made an excellent choice,” stated Burns.  “The Employee of the Year award recognizes not only the fine example Miles has set for others, but also the high regard his co-workers have for him.”
Robertson was recognized earlier in the year for his great attitude, commitment to others, and his sense of ownership as he works in the Nutritional Services department at HMC.  Miles takes pride in his work and has a passion for pleasing others.  He goes out of his way to try and satisfy a resident’s or patient’s craving for something special to eat, and he frequently asks to try out new recipes for employees and visitors.
“Miles has gained the friendship and respect of his fellow employees,” Burns continued, “and we appreciate his contribution to making HMC a great place to work and a great place to receive care!”
