Billy Clark Allen, 76, Saltillo

Billy Clark Allen, age 76, passed away February 10, 2012 at his home.

Born in Henderson, TN, he was the son of the late Dewey T. Smith and Mary Earl Melton Smith.

He was in the Navy four years serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a Baptist in faith. He worked for and retired from Roadway Express after almost 34 years. He loved music, played the guitar and was a good singer. He was a member of the Saltillo Ruritans and Teamsters Local 667 in Memphis, TN.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jessie Mai Parker Allen of Saltillo, a daughter, Jessyca L. Allyn of Memphis and a son, Danny Clark Allen of Saltillo.

Gravesides services will be Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Chester County Memory Gardens with Shackelford Funeral Directors – Johnson Chapel in charge of the service with Jerry Parker officiating.

Oliver Evans (Penny) Nance, 90 Waynesboro

Mr. Nance departed this life on Friday, February 10, 2012 at Wayne Care Nursing Home in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 90 Years, 10 Months, 8 Days.

He was born April 2, 1921 in Wayne County, TN the son of the late Robert and Lemer Evans Nance. In addition to his parents, Mr. Nance was preceded in death by his wife; Wanda Sue Wilson Nance on September 23, 2009.

Mr. Nance was retired from Genesco and served his country in the United States Army.

He is survived by son, Dennis Nance of Waynesboro, TN; grandchildren; Donna Eaves; Joshua Nance and Gabrielle Holcombe; great grandchildren; Matthew ; Colby and Delana Eaves; Makayla and Hunter Nance and Skylie Holcombe.

Visitation and calling hours are scheduled for Saturday, February 11, 6:00--8:00 pm and on Sunday, February 12, 12:00 noon until service time at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel, Waynesboro.

Services are scheduled for Sunday, February 12, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Home in Waynesboro, Tennessee, with David Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens ,Waynesboro, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Military rites at gravesite.

Sadie Lou Ingle Mathis, 77, Pocahontas

Sadie Lou Mathis, age 77, of Pocahontas, died Friday, February 10, 2012 at Mississippi Care Center in Corinth, Mississippi.

Born June 17, 1934 in Hornsby, she was the daughter of the late John Leonard and Carrie Ocylee Price Ingle.

Living most of her life in Hardeman County, she was a river boat cook and had once owned her own restaurant. She married James Horace Mathis, February 12, 1953, who died July 23, 2001 after 48 years of marriage.

Mrs. Mathis was a member of the Pocahontas First Baptist Church.

She leaves as her survivors 3 daughters, Pam (John Babcock) Simpson of Selmer, Wanda (Landon) Shearon and Merrie (Tommy) McQueen both of Pocahontas; a brother, Wendell Ingle of New Albany, MS; a sister Bonnie Vaughn of Pocahontas; 7 grandchildren, Billy Wilkerson, Bryan McQueen, Jerry Sims, Chad McQueen, Matt Shearon, Christy Cherkesky, and Stacy Marcum; and 9 great grandchildren, Seth Wilkerson, Clayton Wilkerson, Thomas McQueen, Andrew Sims, Riley Sims, Lauryn Shearon, Hallie McKinnie, Tyler Marcum, and Waylon Marcum.

Visitation and calling hours are shceduled for Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Sunday, February 12, 2012 at 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at
Shackelford's Middleton Chapel.

Services are scheduled for
Sunday, February 12, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford's Middleton Chapel with interment at Oak Grove Independent Methodist Church in
Pocahontas, Tennessee.

Jennett (Little Granny) Rodgers, 95, Savannah

Jennett (Little Granny) Rodgers was born in Paris, Texas on January 13, 1917 the daughter of the late Scott Riley and Ruby Sistruck Ross.

Ms. Rodgers enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, crafts, and crossword puzzles. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Camden, Alabama.

Ms. Rodgers departed this life on Friday, January 10, 2012 at the age of 95 years, 28 days.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Betty Hunt Lewis and husband Danny of Savannah, Tennessee, Ruby Gaynell Hudgens and husband Nollie of Hope Hull, Alabama; 7 grandchildren, Sherry Fuller, Sandy Bishop, Wade Hunt, Lisa Pope, Scott Hunt, Tracey Bravo, and Terri Butler; 14 great grandchildren, Michael Fuller, Edwin Fuller, Alison Rogers, Shannon Chandler, Ashley White Bailey, Melissa Hunt, Shali Pope, Hannah Pope, Anthony Hunt, Casey Hunt, Jessica Sides, John Yates, Payton Butler, and Hannah Butler; 15 great great grandchildren; for 17 years there were five generations living.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Ann Edwards; a sister, Gaynell Webb; 2 brothers, Scott Ross and Alvin Ross; 3 grandchildren, Mark Anthony Hunt, Bo Hudgens, and Keith Edwards.

Earl Wayne Tacker Sr, 68, Stantonville

Earl Wayne Tacker Sr. was born September 15, 1943 in McNairy County, TN the son of the late Johnny and Delia Stanford Tacker.

Mr. Tacker worked at Brown Shoe Company as an inspector. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. When his health allowed he loved to hunt, fish and garden. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Tacker departed this life on February 10, 2012 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 68 Years, 4 Months, 26 Days. He is survived by two daughters, Carol Baker of Morris Chapel, TN, Sondra Lambert and husband Greg of Adamsville, TN; a son, Earl Tacker, Jr. and wife Angela of Stantonville, TN; a sister, Diane Jones of Leapwood, TN; a brother, Eugene Tacker and wife Mildred of Stantonville, TN; six grandchildren, Ricky Lee Jr., Greg Lee, Brittany Garvin and husband Daniel, Cody Tacker, Cassie Brown, Kayla Lambert; three great grandchildren, Kaydence Lee, Madysen Tacker, Justin Garvin.

Thelma Jerrolds, 74, Savannah

Thelma Jerrolds was born in Savannah, Tennessee on October 24, 1937 the daughter of the late Johnnie Bannister and Mary Baxter Tidwell.

On May 18, 1958 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Paul Jerrolds, who preceded her in death on October 12, 2007.

Mrs. Jerrolds was a photographer at Ken's Studio.

She departed this life on Friday, February 10, 2012 at the age of 74 years, 3 months, 17 days.

She is survived by a son, Rickey Jerrolds and wife Beverly of Savannah, Tennessee; 2 grandchildren, Kaylie and Tyler Jerrolds; 2 sisters, Gladys Hosea of Savannah, Tennessee and Agnes Hopper of Pampa, Texas; 2 brothers, J.R. Tidwell of Savannah, Tennessee and Charles Tidwell of Durham, NC.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Lucille Beckham and Etta Hosea; 2 brothers, Murray and Tommy Tidwell.
