Shiloh Battlefield National Military Park Honors Past and Present Armed Forces - May 25th, 2009




Shiloh, TN, May 25, 2009    Shiloh Battlefield National Park honored its past and present armed forces in a Memorial Day honor service. Chris Mekow, Ramon Johnson, and Steve Belko at stood watch in uniforms of service members past.

Randy Brock, Tim Boyd and Keith Willingham cast a diligent eye as Memorial Day observers funneled through the main gates.



Honoring the flags, and the Presentation of the Colors of the National Armed Forces.



Boy Scouts of America Troop 34 present the colors.



In a special ceremony honoring Seaman Second Class James Parks, Shiloh Honor Guard give tribute. The ceremony included the laying of the wreath on one of many unmarked graves, by Ms. Carlene Parks Lake, Mrs. Carla Parks Tennison, and State Representative Vance Dennis.



State Representative Vance Dennis, of the 71st House District, gives the memorial address. Mr. Dennis urged past and present members of the military to reach out and share their memories and observances to younger generations untouched by the national sense of pride and honor that accompanies military service.

Mr. Dennis stands with Crump constituents Jerry and Donna Jett. Jerry is a 21 year retiree of the US Navy.
